A Mother's Story i should say is a movie worth watching...well mahilig kase akong manoon pero pinipili ko ang mga pinapanood ko. Maganda ang movie na ito ni Pokwang, and of course pag sinabing pokwang may mga patawa din naman sya kahit drama ang effect dito ng lola. Totoo naman yan, pag mga anak mo na ang paguusapan parang ang hirap at ang sakit ng mag desisyon. Iisipin mo na lang kahit wala ng para sa iyo, magkaron lang ang mga anak mo. Kahit anong hirap haharapin mo para lang sa kinabukasan ng mga anak mo at ng buong pamilya mong umaasa sa iyo. Maaring OO HINDI KAMI HANDS ON sa mga anak namin, pero it doesnt mean na nagpapakasaya kami dito sa abroad. Mahirap sa abroad, maganda lang pakinggan at maganda lang tignan sa picture pero hindi madaling manirahan sa abroad.

Medy (Pokwang), a make-up artist, was given the chance of a lifetime to accompany a concert star to the United States for a performance. She promised her family that she will return after a week. However, while in America, she stumbled upon a former classmate Helen (Beth Tamayo) who convinced her to stay for good in the land of milk and honey. She initially refused, but eventually gave in, when she got a call one night from her husband that they need a big amount of money to bring her youngest daughter to the hospital. America has not been the friendliest to her and our story begins with her coming home to Manila literally with nothing. Medy’s two kids, King (Rayver Cruz) and Queenie (Xyriel Manabat) are now 19 and 7.

King struggles with the return of his mother. Animosity, resentment, shame, and anger are issues he has built with Medy. For the young Queenie, it’s getting to know the mother, who she thought would one day come out of a Balikbayan Box. And as for her husband, Medy discovers something she least expected.

MY PERSONAL RATING: 9 stars a must to see movie ng mga kamag anak ng OFW

Actually pd ko na sana itong bigyan ng 10 stars rating kaso pumangit yung storya sa dulo, nung ipakilala ng anak nyang si King ang girlfriend nya na magiging isa ng ina. Sana inayos na lang nila yung script ginawa na lang nila na may ipapakilalang girlfriend and gusto na nilang magpakasal. Hindi yung ipinakilala kase buntis na. Ayun kase ang hirap sa mga klase ng palabas sa atin, dahil pinapakita sa buong kapuluan akala na tuloy ng mga nakakapanood, lalo na ng mga kabataan eh ok na yung ganon. Tama na yung ganong mga napapanood nila. Pero, in fairness pa din sa movie na ito... maganda sya as in.. ang ganda ganda nakakaiyak at makatotohanan.

Derek Charles (Idris Elba) is the Executive Vice President of Gage Bendix, a finance company. Derek and his wife, Sharon (Beyoncé Knowles) have an infant son, Kyle (Nathan and Nicolas Myers). While at work, Derek briefly flirts with temp Lisa Sheridan (Ali Larter), who later attempt to seduce him throughout the film. Derek repeatedly rejects her, but Lisa continues to advance on him, and attempts to have sex with him at the no-spouse Christmas party and flashes him in his car. Derek intends to report Lisa to his firm's human resource management, but learns that she has quit her job. Derek and his workmates visit a resort for a conference, where he spots Lisa. He confronts her, who spikes his drink. Incapacitated, Derek is somewhat helpless when Lisa follows him into his hotel room and kisses him. He confronts Lisa again the following day, and hours later discovers her lying in his bed after attempting suicide through drug overdose. After repeated attempts to reach Derek on his phone, Sharon finds Derek at the hospital, and suspects that he and Lisa had an affair, as Lisa claims. Detective Monica Reese (Christine Lahti) questions Derek and becomes skeptical of Lisa's claims, and informs Derek of her belief in him. Sharon kicks Derek out of their house, and Derek moves into a separate apartment.
While Derek and Sharon are dining out, Lisa breaks in their house and tricks the babysitter Samantha (Scout Taylor-Compton) into letting her in under the pretense of being one of Sharon's friends, and flees with Kyle. When Derek and Sharon return home after dinner, they discover that Kyle has been abducted. Derek goes to his car with the intent to pursue Lisa, only to find Kyle sitting safely in the back seat. Derek and Sharon immediately take Kyle to the hospital for a check-up. When Derek and Sharon return home after checking-up Kyle, they find Lisa has trashed their bedroom and removed Sharon's face from their family portrait. Sharon leaves a threatening voice message on Lisa's phone, and she and Derek set up a home alarm system. Lisa learns that Derek and Sharon will be away from town, with Sharon leaving that afternoon and Derek the next day. While Sharon is on her way to pick up Kyle, she realizes that she forgot to set the alarm system and returns home. Meanwhile, Lisa breaks into Derek and Sharon's house again and decorates the master bed with rose petals. While setting the alarm, Sharon hears Lisa in the bedroom. Sharon tells Lisa that she is calling the police, but Lisa proves to be far stronger and more dangerous than she anticipated and easily tackles her to the floor and Sharon and Lisa engage in a fistfight. Sharon is aggressive and uses her size advantage while Lisa targets Sharons throat. Lisa gains the upper hand by elbowing Sharon in the face and attempting to force her over the stair banister while choking her with both hands. In desperation, Sharon lunges forward and Sharon and Lisa engage in a struggle where Lisa, refusing to let go of her throat manages to overpower and wrestle Sharon down the stairs, temporarily knocking her out. Derek calls his house and Lisa answers and later calls Detective Reese and immediately leaves his office.
Lisa runs to the attic, and Sharon pursues her. Sharon leads Lisa to a weak spot in the attic floor, where Lisa falls through. Sharon reaches out and attempt to take Lisa's hand to lift her up, but Lisa pulls Sharon down with her instead of accepting her help. Seeing that the floor is starting to buckle, Sharon pries Lisa off of her arm. Lisa falls onto a chandelier, breaking her fall, but lets go and falls onto the glass table below. Lisa opens her eyes, only to have the chandelier fall, which finally kills Lisa. Derek and Detective Reese arrives as Sharon comes out of the front door of the house. The film ends when Derek and Sharon embrace each other as Detective Reese enters their house to investigate Lisa's actions.

Another secular film that i considered worth sharing to you guys. This film may have received negative reviews from critics pero for me OK na OK sya sa akin. Ang ganda! Ang galing! Sabi ko nga sana ganyan ang mga men, gagawin ang lahat para umiwas sa tukso. Sa mga misis... watch this film with your hubby.

Amish - sometimes referred to as Amish Mennonites, are a group of Christian church fellowships that form a subgroup of the Mennonite churches. The Amish are known for simple living, plain dress, and reluctance to adopt many conveniences of modern technology. The history of the Amish church began with a schism in Switzerland within a group of Swiss and Alsatian Anabaptists in 1693 led by Jakob Ammann Those who followed Ammann became known as Amish. In the early 18th century, many Amish and Mennonites emigrated to Pennsylvania for a variety of reasons. Today, the most traditional descendants of the Amish continue to speak Pennsylvania German, also known as Pennsylvania Dutch. However, a dialect of Swiss German predominates in some Old Order Amish communities, especially in the American state of Indiana. As of 2000, over 165,000 Old Order Amish live in the United States and approximately 1500 live in Canada. A 2008 study suggested their numbers have increased to 227,000, and in 2010 a study suggested their population had grown by 10% in the past two years to 249,000, with increasing movement to the West.
Amish church membership begins with baptism, usually between the ages of 16 and 25. It is a requirement for marriage, and once a person has affiliated with the church, he or she may marry only within the faith. Church districts average between 20 and 40 families, and worship services are held every other Sunday in a member's home. The district is led by a bishop and several ministers and deacons. The rules of the church, the Ordnung, must be observed by every member. These rules cover most aspects of day-to-day living, and include prohibitions or limitations on the use of power-line electricity, telephones, and automobiles, as well as regulations on clothing. Many Amish church members may not buy insurance or accept government assistance such as Social Security. As Anabaptists, Amish church members practice nonresistance and will not perform any type of military service.
Members who do not conform to these expectations and who cannot be convinced to repent are excommunicated. In addition to excommunication, members may be shunned, a practice that limits social contacts to shame the wayward member into returning to the church. During adolescence rumspringa ("running around") in some communities, nonconforming behavior that would result in the shunning of an adult who had made the permanent commitment of baptism, may meet with a degree of forbearance. Amish church groups seek to maintain a degree of separation from the non-Amish (English) world. There is generally a heavy emphasis on church and family relationships. They typically operate their own one-room schools and discontinue formal education at grade eight (age 13/14). They value rural life, manual labor and humility.

Very nice movie about forgiveness. Try and watch kase you learn something from this movie. May part din siya na hindi ko gusto, yung when they shunned one member dahil nag asawa outside of their community.

This story follows the journey of naive Lino (Piolo Pascual) as he searches for his missing wife in Italy. He comes across Jenny (Claudine Barretto), an imposing figure in the Filipino community of migrant workers, whose dreams of grandeur have clouded her need for personal relationships. In a desperate quest for game and survival, the two find refuge and affirmation in each other. What started as a mentor – protégé relationship, Lino and Jenny’s partnership evolves beautifully into a self-consuming love affair. Until these are put to a test. Reality bites as the land changes everything.

In the end, it matters not that Lino finds his wife for he has found himself. And alas, it matters not for Jenny that she sacrifices for love, for she has learned to give, in order to live again.

Let this serve as a reminder that if you can stand on your own you will not be needing them in other words - we are dependent
on them.
