True naman po kase when i tried it, lagi na me nakain dun. Amish Grace the movie

AMISH GRACE
an inspirational true story of forgiveness

A grieving Amish mother struggles to forgive the woman whose husband killed her daughter and four other schoolchildren in this movie inspired by the true-life events that unfolded in a Nickel Mines schoolhouse on October 2, 2006. After the shooting, the media descended upon Nickel Mines, and the parents of the murdered schoolchildren remained steadfast in their promise to practice forgiveness -- except for Ida Graber (Kimberly Williams-Paisley). Devastated by the loss of her daughter, Ida found herself unable to forgive the gunman and his wife, Amy Roberts (Tammy Blanchard). With each passing day Ida's sorrow continues to fester, testing her faith in ways that she, and many others in her community, never dreamt of.

THE AMISH
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Amish - sometimes referred to as Amish Mennonites, are a group of Christian church fellowships that form a subgroup of the Mennonite churches. The Amish are known for simple living, plain dress, and reluctance to adopt many conveniences of modern technology. The history of the Amish church began with a schism in Switzerland within a group of Swiss and Alsatian Anabaptists in 1693 led by Jakob Ammann Those who followed Ammann became known as Amish. In the early 18th century, many Amish and Mennonites emigrated to Pennsylvania for a variety of reasons. Today, the most traditional descendants of the Amish continue to speak Pennsylvania German, also known as Pennsylvania Dutch. However, a dialect of Swiss German predominates in some Old Order Amish communities, especially in the American state of Indiana. As of 2000, over 165,000 Old Order Amish live in the United States and approximately 1500 live in Canada. A 2008 study suggested their numbers have increased to 227,000, and in 2010 a study suggested their population had grown by 10% in the past two years to 249,000, with increasing movement to the West.
Amish church membership begins with baptism, usually between the ages of 16 and 25. It is a requirement for marriage, and once a person has affiliated with the church, he or she may marry only within the faith. Church districts average between 20 and 40 families, and worship services are held every other Sunday in a member's home. The district is led by a bishop and several ministers and deacons. The rules of the church, the Ordnung, must be observed by every member. These rules cover most aspects of day-to-day living, and include prohibitions or limitations on the use of power-line electricity, telephones, and automobiles, as well as regulations on clothing. Many Amish church members may not buy insurance or accept government assistance such as Social Security. As Anabaptists, Amish church members practice nonresistance and will not perform any type of military service.
Members who do not conform to these expectations and who cannot be convinced to repent are excommunicated. In addition to excommunication, members may be shunned, a practice that limits social contacts to shame the wayward member into returning to the church. During adolescence rumspringa ("running around") in some communities, nonconforming behavior that would result in the shunning of an adult who had made the permanent commitment of baptism, may meet with a degree of forbearance. Amish church groups seek to maintain a degree of separation from the non-Amish (English) world. There is generally a heavy emphasis on church and family relationships. They typically operate their own one-room schools and discontinue formal education at grade eight (age 13/14). They value rural life, manual labor and humility.

MY PERSONAL RATING: 8 stars

Very nice movie about forgiveness. Try and watch kase you learn something from this movie. May part din siya na hindi ko gusto, yung when they shunned one member dahil nag asawa outside of their community.

Ferino's Bibingka

FERINO'S BIBINGKA
Philippines' Best Rice Cake

Ferino’s Bibingka started in October of 1938 at Juan Luna Street in Tondo, Manila. Husband and wife, Ceferino (Mang Ferino) and Cristina (Aling Tinay) Francisco started cooking bibingka with three clay stoves on a 1-meter bench and two small tables. Initially, they would sell bibingka only during the Christmas season. After the war, Mang Ferino further improved the quality of the bibingka and they started offering it all year round. Their bibingka became famous including other merienda items such as Menudo with Mini Pandesal, Ginatang Bilo-bilo with Inangit, Dinuguan-puto and Palabok (Pancit Luglog).

In 1957, they opened their first branch at the Acacia Lane of Manila Hotel. Then another branch was opened at the Fiesta Carnival in front of Araneta Coliseum. When Mang Ferino passed away, Aling Tinay was left to continue the business. Later on, when Aling Tinay retired, she let her son Alfredo continue the business. At this time, almost all of the outlets have already closed down.
But in 1981, Alfredo with his wife Noemi and their children decided to revive his father’s legacy. He opened a bibingka stall at Redemptorist Road in Baclaran Parañaque. Two years later, a branch was opened in Bel-Air, Makati City, beside International School. After the EDSA Revolution, they opened their main store at Granada Street, Quezon City (Ortigas Extension near Greenhills).
In the 90s, Alfredo had 10 outlets in Metro Manila which were located at SM Megamall, SM Centerpoint, SM City North Edsa, SM Southmall, Las Piñas, Harrison Plaza, Bel-Air in Makati City, Times St. (West Avenue) in Quezon City, Berma Shopping Center in Baclaran, Salubungan Food Court of Duty Free, the main branch at Granada Street also in Quezon City, and one outlet in the U.S.A. located at Shermanway corner Cold Water Canyon in North Hollywood, California.
Presently, the children of Alfredo and Noemi Francisco are continuing the bibingka business both in the Philippines and in the US. They have also ventured into franchising. Francisco Food Specialties is owned and managed by one of their seven children — Sonny with the help of his wife Anne. Their other children also own and manage their respective Ferino’s Bibingka outlets.

GILIGANS ISLAND RESTAURANT & BAR

Giligans Island Restaurant and Bar excels in serving Filipino dishes like pork and chicken sisig, calamares, lechon kawali, sinigang na baboy and nilagang baboy. All of the dishes served at this restaurant are affordable since their prices range from 100 to 300 pesos per serving. In addition, there is no service charge in the restaurant so people who dine at this place can save a lot.
Try their SISIG! WOW! Superb.

Milan

MILAN
A door closed for him. And she opened a window

This story follows the journey of naive Lino (Piolo Pascual) as he searches for his missing wife in Italy. He comes across Jenny (Claudine Barretto), an imposing figure in the Filipino community of migrant workers, whose dreams of grandeur have clouded her need for personal relationships. In a desperate quest for game and survival, the two find refuge and affirmation in each other. What started as a mentor – protégé relationship, Lino and Jenny’s partnership evolves beautifully into a self-consuming love affair. Until these are put to a test. Reality bites as the land changes everything.
In the end, it matters not that Lino finds his wife for he has found himself. And alas, it matters not for Jenny that she sacrifices for love, for she has learned to give, in order to live again.

NO GREATER LOVE

NO GREATER LOVE
first love, second chance

Jeff and Heather were the “Lucky ones.” Best friends from childhood, high school sweethearts, and married by twenty-two. They were inseparable soul mates. Over time, however, Jeff became a workaholic, and Heather felt the neglect. After the birth of their son, Ethan, and with Jeff never around, Heather fell into a deep depression. In a moment of despair, Heather made the life-altering decision to leave Jeff for the night…and never returned. After police searches, missing person’s reports, and endless efforts to find her…she was gone.
Ten years later…life has moved on for Jeff and Ethan. Jeff is on the verge of proposing to Katie, his girlfriend of eight months, and Ethan has grown into a well-adjusted eleven year old. While not forgotten, Heather is a vivid, but distant memory of the past for Jeff, and no memory at all for Ethan.
Jeff is befriended by Dave, a fellow regular at a local coffee house. After striking up a friendship, they learn that their sons are baseball little league teammates.  With summer break approaching, Dave encourages Jeff to allow Ethan to come to “Kids Fest,” a fun, week-long kid’s summer event at Dave’s church. Ambivalent toward God and church, but feeling that Kids Fest would be - if nothing else - good babysitting for his son, Jeff accepts.
Ethan has a blast, and on the final day, Jeff and Katie are persuaded to attend a brief show, which the kids are performing. It is on this day that Jeff receives the monumental shock of his life. Heather is one of the Kids Fest helpers!
Three years prior to their Kids Fest encounter, Heather had been saved from her sin, and was now a committed Christian. With all her heart, she had diligently attempted to find the whereabouts of Jeff and Ethan, but was ultimately unsuccessful. Turning it over to God, she had fervently been praying to see them again, and by God’s grace, here they were!
Jeff is forced to wrestle with forgiveness, reconciliation, and the irresistible grace of God.

A Filipino Marine

CHIEF MATE GILBERT NASOL a seaman from Laguna

I remember this guy, we used to work sa same company during our teenage years. So as i  look at his pictures ngayon ....honestly sobra ang naging paghanga ko sa kanya. I mean, from the pictures na pinopost nila - very good steward of their resources ang kanyang misis.
